Ciao e bentornat*! Vi avevo accennato alla mia scampagnata al Summer Jamboree? Beh, oggi vi parlo del mio vestito! Welcome back! Did I tell about my quick visit to the Summer Jamboree? Well, about time to talk about my dress!
Il Summer Jamboree è, per chi non lo conoscesse, un evento che si tiene ogni anno a Senigallia incentrato sugli anni ’30-’40-’50, in cui si balla e si acquistano articoli da ballo e articoli vintage!
La voglia di andarci c’era da tempo e quest’anno se ne è presentata l’occasione! Quindi, cosa c’era da fare se non farsi un bel vestito nuovo?!
The Summer Jamboree is a public event where the town of Senigallia becomes for a week a 30s-40s-50s town where everybody is dressed in vintage clothing, hairstyles match the outfits and the streets are a ballroom playground for everything swings.
I really wanted to go there for a long time so when the occasion came up, I went for it! And how about a new dress for this new special occasion?!
Il modello era già nella mia testa da tempo, ma appena vista la stoffa, non ho avuto dubbi: DOVEVA ESSERE LUI!!!
I was thinking about this pattern for a while and once I saw this fabric, no doubts in mind: IT HAS TO BE IT!!!
Un pò di tecnica! Let’s get technical!
Il modello di partenza viene da una mia base, che ho modificato per ottenere l’effetto desiderato.
Il davanti prevede: taglio princesse a livello seno, scollo molto dolce a cuore che viene chiuso dietro al collo con un fiocco, i tagli del vestito sono stati svasati e per aggiungere più volume e ho inserito 2 godet.
I had the sloper in my archives for a while so I’ve changed it to match what I wanted.
The front has princess seam on the bust, a heart neckline, two strings that close on the neck back with a bow. On the skirt, the princess seams are A-line and in order to give it more volume, I’ve added two godets.
Il godet! The godet piece!
Il godet è un pezzo aggiuntivo di tessuto che viene inserito in una gonna, fra un taglio di tessuto e l’altro. Vedi i due grossi triangoli sopra? Ecco quelli sono i godet!
The godet is an extra piece of fabric in the shape of a circular sector which is set into a garment, usually a dress or skirt.The addition of a godet causes the article of clothing in question to flare, thus adding width and volume. See the two triangular pieces on the flat? Those are the godet!
Tecnicamente i godet sarebbe bello averli fatti a ruota, ma il tessuto con il quale ho creato l’abito non permetteva questa opzione: un pò perchè i metri erano limitati (ho acquistato gli ultimi 3 metri disponibili!) e soprattutto poichè la fantasia andava dall’alto a basso in verticale.
Technically, as previously said, the godet should be a circular sector added the skirt but the fabric didn’t allow this possibility for two reasons: first I bought the last 3 metres available, then the design was a vertical from selvedge to selvedge creation.
Se li avessi creati a ruota, non c’era possibilità di mantenere in disegno e sarebbe stato un peccato!
If I was to create them with a circular shape, no chance whatsoever to maintain the design and it would have been such a loss!
Il dietro prevede: anche qui taglio a princesse,le scapole scoperte, lampo invisibile sul centro dietro, anche qui i tagli del vestito sono stati svasati e per aggiungere più volume e ci ho inserito 2 godet.
The back too has princess seams, though the shoulder blazes are out, invisible central zipper and the skirt cuts have godet inside.

Mi posso dimenticare di una cosa F.O.N.D.A.M.E.N.T.A.L.E.? Raga, LE TASCHE!!! Che poi, a lato tecnico, con la costruzione a princesse, se le avessi messe visibili, il vestito non avrebbe mantenuto la sua armonia, quindi le ho inserite in cucitura sul fianco e come sempre, è stata un’ottima scelta!
Can I forget one F.U.N.D.A.M.E.N.T.A.L. thing? Guys, POCKETS!!! I mean, technically speaking, if I was to add external pockets on a princess seam, the dress would have not been well balanced so I added them inseam and yeah, the perfect choice if I may say so!
Inoltre, come si riesce ad intravedere da questa foto, ho foderato la parte superiore, affinchè il fiocco fosse bello sia dentro che fuori!
And yes, I’ve lined the upper part of the dress, bow included, as I wanted it to be pretty on the inside too!
Ma vogliamo parlare dei tessuti? What about fabric?
Il tessuto del vestito è un neoprene leggero con una bella struttura: non è foderato se non per la parte superiore dove c’è il fiocco e la chiusura posteriore.
I went with a light neoprene that had a smooth hand: the dress is lined only the upper part of the neckline and the bow.
In quel caso per foderarlo, ho utilizzato un jersey leggerissimo, penso 150 gr/m2, così non ha aggiunto spessore al vestito!
To line it, I chose a very light jersey, something with a 150gr/m2 weight so that it was still lightweight to wear!
Cosa ne pensi del vestito? Io posso solo dire che lo amo e come sempre son di parte! Quello che mi auguro è di aver ripreso con il giusto spirito l’allegria e le forme degli anni ’50!
