Ci sono modelli che rimangono nel cuore appena escono: perchè sono belli, perchè hanno quel nonsochè e ti si appiccicano ai pensieri. E li segui da anni, e li punti, e sai che arriverà il loro momento, prima o poi: questa è la storia del Caftano TLC di Decades of Style!

There are patterns that once they hit the market, you know you’ll about to love them forever. Cause they’re cute, they have a nonordinary shape, and yes, they stick with you no matter what. You follow them for years, you love them from a distance, knowing your time to sew them will come: this is the history of TLC Caftan by Decades of Style!

Partiamo dal principio: Decades of Style è una casa di modelli indipendenti che crea cartamodelli su due linee, entrambe di ispirazione vintage. Oggi vi parlo della linea Decades Everyday.

Decades of Style is an independent Pattern company that focuses on creating vintage patterns and has two lines.

Today I’ll focus on the Decades Everyday line.

Se non ricordo male questo modello uscì nel 2015 e mi attirò subito per la forma: “semplice” eppure così diversa. Poi, sai, la vita capita e ti fa cucire altre cose! Ma a fine quarantena, complici i fiori meravigliosi che un giorno si sono messi sulla mia strada, ho capito che era arrivato il suo momento e l’ho acquistato!

If I’m not mistaken, this pattern came out in 2015 and I was conquered right away by its shape: simple yet so different from everything easy. But you know, life happens and makes you sew other things! But when this Italian quarantine was over, I just understood its time has come (and yes, flowers made me do that!) so I bought it!

Non è stato un capo cucito di corsa: ho preso tutto il tempo necessario. Sebbene sia un modello facile da cucire, non è il facile del “faccio tutto in 5 minuti e me lo infilo”. No.

I haven’t sewn it very quickly: I took all the time it was necessary. Even though the pattern is classified as easy, it’s not an EASY 5 MINUTES DIY PROJECT, if you know what I mean. Nope.

E il suo bello si racchiude lì:

perchè nelle istruzioni di Decades of Style si racchiude la cura per ogni dettaglio, ogni cucitura da cucire, ribattere, perfezionare per avere alla fine un capo assolutamente meraviglioso!

And that’s when the magic happens:

in the Decades of Style instructions lay all the attention, all the care you can have towards this caftan. Sewing, pressing, topstitching to have a perfectly lovely garment!

Quale problematica può incontrare il pubblico italiano però cucendolo? Le misure, che sono tutte in pollici e non sono esattamente nelle nostre corde, ma che con un buon convertitore possono essere superate!

The sizes go from a 6 to a 26 US, so it’s a pretty impressive and huge size range!

E’ un capo d’effetto? Senza ombra di dubbio! Può stare bene a chiunque? Potrai non credermi, ma sì! Is it a mind-blowing caftan? Absolutely yes! Can it be worn by everybody’s shape? You might not believe me, but yes! Ma c’è una cosa che hai amato più delle altre in questo caftano? Sì. La possibilità di sbizzarrirsi con i tessuti, creare nuove fantasie, sperimentare con i dettagli e sapere che sarà comunque meraviglioso!

Is there something I have loved more than any other thing while sewing this caftan? Yes. Its mix and matching possibility, its details, and knowing that it will be amazing no matter what!

Risultato: io lo amo alla follia. Senza se e senza ma.

So yeah, I love this caftan very much, both for its construction and its shape!
