Ciao! Let’s get back to sewing for my wardrobe with a beautiful jacket I’ve sewn in 2020!

E’ finalmente estate, le stagioni si alternano e tornano in maniera prepotente i fiori in questo cartamodello di Decades of Style e la giacca Three’s A Charm.

Finally is summer again, seasons pass and flowers are arrongantly back with this Decades of Style pattern, the Three’s A Charm jacket.

Sewn back in the 2020 autumn, this jacket should have been the trustworthy companion of the bridesmaid dress I made for my BFF wedding in July 2020. At the end of the day, I haven’t sewn for the wedding, as July was super hot and I also made the bride’s dress (!) and I think it was just perfect this way!

Back when I started looking for a pattern, I was looking for something really plain, with just some construction lines, cause I already had that fabulous fabric, and yes, couldn’t be happier with the result!

Il modello – The pattern

The pattern I’ve chosen for this jacket is the Three’s A Charm No. 103 by Decades of Style: I am in love with this pattern company. Their timeless patterns are always a good choice for me, as they mix vintage details with nowadays precision.

The pattern is relatively easy but it has some exquisite details in it: the jacket has bust and waist darts on the front, shoulder and waist darts on the back, and elbow darts on the one-piece sleeve. Thanks to all the darts, the jacket fits like a glove!

Having very few cuts and such a clean line helps the pattern going well with fabrics.

Cosa significa aiutare i tessuti? What does it mean to go well with fabrics?

It means that you can use very bold/bright fabric (like the one I used for this jacket) and the combination pattern/fabric will look perfect together.

In the center front triangular part, there should be placed a buttonhole with a button, but I chose not to sew those two as I wear my summer jackets open.

The fabric I’ve chosen for this jacket is a favorite of mine: reupholstery cotton! That specific type of fabric holds the shape when sewn, you can sew it like a breeze and when washed it doesn’t loose color nor lenghts.

Cosa ne pensi della giacca Three’s A Charm?

What do you think about the Three’s A Charm jacket? I find it adorable to carry by during the fresh summer nights!
